Neal Hamilton - Artist Bio
Neal Hamilton is a creative multi-tasker who has worked successfully as in Illustrator, Graphic Designer, Photographer and Painter. Hamilton started his career as an industrial designer with Artist Studios in Cleveland, Ohio, where he honed as skills as an illustrator and graphic designer.
He formed Livewire Studios in the 90s, becoming a leading force in graphic arts and design in Northeast Ohio. As owner and president of Livewire Studios, Neal led the company to secure major clients, including American Greetings and Goodyear.
After more than a decade in graphic design, Neal combined his passion for music with visual art, becoming the staff photographer for The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. His ten-year stint as the Rock Halls official photographer included personal highlights such as touring the Rock Hall with President Bill Clinton, documenting the John Lennon Exhibition and photographing The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, with golf great Tiger Woods.
Even with these accomplishments, Neal felt the tug to get back to his painting, creating from within, creating from his heart and soul. It was no surprise that the subject matter that has so strongly spoken to him comes from the rock and roll music that he adores.
After the personal tragedy of losing everything in a house fire in 2005, Neal immersed himself in his painting, using the raw materials he found in the house where his family took up temporary residence including half-used cans of house paint and unorthodox tools such as trowels and knifes to move and work the paint on the canvases.
For the first time in his life, Hamilton feels that all his experiences and creative passions have finally found a home in his portraits of rock icons. The images are intense and revealing, rock stars with eyes that stare into your soul, colors that accentuate their mood sensuality, mystery or in-your-face flamboyancy.
